17th May 2022: Growing the Common Good Day Conference

Join Together in Sussex to explore how we can respond to challenges facing our churches and communities and work together for the Common Good.

As we enter the summer of 2022, exhausted by two years of ongoing pandemic and seemingly ever-growing global uncertainty, we face big questions – as individuals, churches and communities:

  • How can we respond to the very real challenges facing our friends, family and neighbours – rapidly rising costs of living, financial and job insecurity, isolation and loneliness, or mental ill-health?
  • How can we express our care for God’s world, responding to the threat of climate change, habitat loss and extinction?
  • How can our church grow new connections and make a difference where we live?

In our Christian tradition and beyond, the concept of ‘common good’ offers deep wisdom about how working together we can achieve more, for ourselves and each other, than we ever could alone.

Join Together in Sussex for a day by the sea to explore what this might mean in practice, and across our parishes and Diocese.

A day conference for clergy and laity on Common Good initiatives for parishes across the Diocese of Chichester, including:


A workshop on The Growing Good Toolkit from the Church Urban Fund and how to grow your church through social action. This will be an introduction to this free course exploring how churches can be faithful and fruitful in our local communities through connecting social action, discipleship and growth.

The EcoChurch project – practical ideas from A Rocha about how your church can move towards net carbon zero as we get closer to the Church of England target to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Together in Sussex has been listening to what parishes have been telling the diocese in their Mission Action Plans and shaping their work around your needs – come and hear what they’ve planned so far and contribute to the conversation.
