Hidden Voices: A four part course for churches and communities on modern-day slavery
Modern Slavery is present in most communities and often goes unnoticed. A community including the church can play a key role in identifying and protecting the individuals and groups who are at risk.
The Clewer Initiative in partnership with Together in Sussex - Ecumenical Abolition Ambassadors is hosting a 4 session course to raise awareness of modern-day slavery in Sussex.
Dates are:
16 November: Session 1 Setting the Scene (in person, venue - St Peter's Church, Shoreham-by-Sea)
7 December: Session 2 Detection (online)
11 December: Session 3: Prevention (online)
25 January Session 4 Action Planning (in person, venue TBC )
*Please note we will be running the course in mixed mode, with some sessions in person, and some sessions online. Please see the list below for details.
All sessions will run from 19.00 to 21.30 , however the online sessions may be shorter.
Places on this course are offered FREE due to some generous funding, but we do ask that you commit to all the sessions.
There is also some study & reading between sessions this will be given out at the end of each session .
We strongly encourage small groups of people to do this training together, from the same church, deanery or locality .
We are particularly encouraging people from Worthing, Shoreham, Goring and Hove and nearby communities to attend, but is open to all and if you are the only one in your locality, please don’t let that put you off registering!
